Kaleidoscope Aussie and Eskie adoption information.
Steps to adopting a pup from us.
Please only inquire if you are able to pick up your puppy in Raleigh, NC!
#1. Get on our contact list for an upcoming litter. Within three days of a litter being born EVERYONE on the contact list will get an email announcing the litter. I will do my best to send the emails in the order I received the requests to be on the contact list and all at the same time so everyone has equal opportunity to get a pup. A photo of the litter will accompany the email and the sexes of the puppies will be announced. The contact list might be quite lengthy, however, often people have already adopted a pup before the litter is born or decided not to get a dog, etc.
#2. Look at the pups and decide if you want to place a deposit on a puppy based on color or sex. (Aussies only. Eskimos are always white) If so notify me immediately and I will send you a deposit form. Deposit requests are accepted first come first served. Deposits are NOT refundable but are transferable to another litter up until the pups are 5 weeks of age. After 5 weeks of age deposits are NOT refundable and NOT transferable if YOU change your mind. If I change my mind for any reason I reserve the right to refund your deposit or offer you a different litter or puppy option at my discretion. I reserve the right to deny anyone a puppy at any time for any reason and will promptly refund the deposit.
#3. Notify me by email or by phone that you intend to send a deposit. Fill out the deposit form and mail with a check for $200 made out to me. Your deposit will have FIVE business days to reach me. I do not consider a puppy “spoken for” until I get the deposit. Your deposit will be applied to the total adoption fee.
#4 Subscribe to our youtube channel it is called dreamgaits and that is all one word. I set it up for my rescue horses but put my dog videos on there as well. I update the puppies videos about once a week until they are old enough to go home.
#5 Pick a date and time to pick up your new baby! Pups are ready to go eight weeks from the day they are born. If I feel a puppy is not ready at eight weeks I will keep the puppy here until I feel he/she is ready. Some tiny ones I like to keep until 9 or 10 weeks. We will always do what we feel is best for the puppy.
#6 Let me know if your puppy is going to fly home in a plane! There is a $200 charge added to the adoption fee if the puppy requires a health certificate and soft sided crate for the plane. If you are bringing your own soft sided airline approved carrier FOR THE CABIN, WE DO NOT ALLOW OUR PUPS TO FLY CARGO and you do not need a health certificate there is no upcharge.
#7. Get ready for your puppy. Have your puppy's playpen or other safe area set up before your bring your baby home. Get your supplies before hand, don't take your puppy to a pet store on the way home to get exposed to disease while you shop. Please note. Pups come with the following supplies.
Small crate for the ride home.
Bag of puppy food.
Harness and leash.
Bed or Blanket with litter smells.
Appropriate toys and chews.
Pee pads.
They also come with a packet that contains their vaccine and worming and fecal exam history. (DHPP shot at eight weeks), application for registration if applicable, and lifetime health guarantee/spay or neuter contract to be signed by you and by me. Pets must be spayed or neutered!
8. Please show up on time and allow an hour to get your questions answered and to let your pup get to know you a little before you head home. BRING CASH for the balance due. CASH is the only payment we will accept for pick up. No CASH means no pup! Please bring only the number of people you must bring to pick up the pup. The fewer the better. You will be in our house and I don't want or need a house full of people while you and I are going over the paperwork and I am trying to give you undivided attention. Also, and more importantly we do not want to overwhelm your new puppy. Leave Aunt Edna and the neighbor kids home. Also no photography or video in our home!
Visitation: We allow you to visit twice before pick up day. Once to come see the adults if the pups have not been born and once to see the puppies after they are 5 weeks old. You will be required to leave your shoes outside due to disease so wear your cutest sox. Also, you must wash hands before touching pups and you must not be sick or have been sick in the two weeks prior to seeing the pups. Pups can catch human virus.
